Overview

The Ferrari 849 Testarossa (Type F173M) is a sports car built by Italian manufacturer Ferrari. Containing a plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain, it is a successor to the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, and it takes its name from the 1950s and 1960s Ferrari racecars, such as the 250 Testarossa. According to Ferrari, the 8 of the "849" part of its name comes from its eight cylinders, and the 49 comes from the displacement of each cylinder in cubic centimeters. The car was unveiled to the public on September 9, 2025 and it entered production in the middle of 2026.

Design

The car's design recalls the new Ferrari styling elements introduced in the Ferrari F80, itself being partly inspired by the older Ferrari Daytona.

06 Buyer's guide

Who it suits

  • Drivers buying for enjoyment rather than space: coupes and roadsters trade rear space for style and handling.
  • High-mileage or city drivers who want lower fuel use without charging.

Check before you buy

  • Ask for a battery state-of-health report: the traction battery is the main value driver in a used hybrid or electric car. Battery SOH tool
  • Ask for service records: turbocharged engines are sensitive to oil changes and cool-down habits.
  • Test the four-wheel-drive system (transfer case, differentials) and look for uneven tyre wear.
  • Read the auction sheet grade and notes, and verify the odometer against service and inspection records. How to read an auction sheet
  • Run a history check (accidents, flood, mileage) before you bid. History check guide
  • Import age rules: this generation already qualifies in Kenya. Confirm the rule for your exact vehicle with customs before buying. Landed-cost calculator
