Overview
The second generation AMG GT was unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on 19 August 2023, eleven months after the previous generation was discontinued, and production began the following month. It is offered as a coupe, and uses the same platform as the new SL roadster. It is longer than its predecessor, which allows for a 2+2 cabin setup. At launch, a 4.0 L V8 engine was offered in two variants, the 469 hp GT 55, and the 577 hp GT 63, both with four-wheel drive. In 2024, two powertrains were added: a plug-in hybrid version of the V8 for the GT 63 S E Performance with four-wheel drive, and a 2.
F1 Safety Car
The GT 63 Pro is the Formula 1 safety car for the 2026 seasons, making its debut in that role at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, replacing the Black Series.

Who it suits
- Drivers buying for enjoyment rather than space: coupes and roadsters trade rear space for style and handling.
- High-mileage or city drivers who want lower fuel use without charging.
Check before you buy
- Ask for a battery state-of-health report: the traction battery is the main value driver in a used hybrid or electric car. Battery SOH tool
- Ask for service records: turbocharged engines are sensitive to oil changes and cool-down habits.
- Test the four-wheel-drive system (transfer case, differentials) and look for uneven tyre wear.
- Read the auction sheet grade and notes, and verify the odometer against service and inspection records. How to read an auction sheet
- Run a history check (accidents, flood, mileage) before you bid. History check guide
- Import age rules: this generation already qualifies in Kenya. Confirm the rule for your exact vehicle with customs before buying. Landed-cost calculator
