Overview

The Tata Tigor is a subcompact sedan manufactured by Tata Motors in India based on the Tata Tiago hatchback. It was launched in India in March 2017.

Safety

In 2020, The Tigor/Tiago crash tested in Global NCAP (similar to Latin NCAP 2013) scoring four stars for adult occupant protection and three stars for child occupant protection. Tiago/Tigor offers dual airbags as standard across all the variants. However its bodyshell integrity and footwell area are rated as unstable. Head and neck protection for adult occupants was good. Chest protection for passenger was adequate and marginal for the driver. Femur and knees showed marginal protection as there is risk of contracting dangerous structures behind the fascia.

06 Buyer's guide

Who it suits

  • Executive and chauffeur use: the saloon body prioritises rear-seat comfort and a quiet cabin.
  • High-mileage or city drivers who want lower fuel use without charging.

Check before you buy

  • Ask for a battery state-of-health report: the traction battery is the main value driver in a used hybrid or electric car. Battery SOH tool
  • Check the emissions equipment (particulate filter, NOx treatment) and the destination country's emissions rules; some markets restrict used diesels.
  • Ask for service records: turbocharged engines are sensitive to oil changes and cool-down habits.
  • Read the auction sheet grade and notes, and verify the odometer against service and inspection records. How to read an auction sheet
  • Run a history check (accidents, flood, mileage) before you bid. History check guide
  • Import age rules: this generation already qualifies in Kenya. Confirm the rule for your exact vehicle with customs before buying. Landed-cost calculator
