Overview

The second-generation 208 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, and officially went on sale across Europe over the summer. A fully electric version, named e-208, was also revealed at Geneva. Since this generation, the 208 switches from the older PF1 platform to the Common Modular Platform (CMP). The newer platform, which is shared with the 2008, the DS 3 Crossback and Opel Corsa, allowed Peugeot's engineers to reduce around 30 kg from the vehicle's weight. The newly developed platform also enhanced the vehicle's aerodynamics and comfort, as noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels are claimed to be reduced compared to its predecessor.

06 Buyer's guide

Who it suits

  • City and mixed driving: hatchbacks are compact outside and flexible inside.
  • High-mileage or city drivers who want lower fuel use without charging.

Check before you buy

  • Ask for a battery state-of-health report: the traction battery is the main value driver in a used hybrid or electric car. Battery SOH tool
  • Check the emissions equipment (particulate filter, NOx treatment) and the destination country's emissions rules; some markets restrict used diesels.
  • Ask for service records: turbocharged engines are sensitive to oil changes and cool-down habits.
  • Read the auction sheet grade and notes, and verify the odometer against service and inspection records. How to read an auction sheet
  • Run a history check (accidents, flood, mileage) before you bid. History check guide
  • Import age rules: this generation already qualifies in Kenya. Confirm the rule for your exact vehicle with customs before buying. Landed-cost calculator
